MS Sjøveien was built at Mjellem & Karlsen Shipyard in Bergen, 1964. The vessel was built for the Norwegian Government and she worked for them in various capacities for many years. In the period 1979-1995 the vessel served as a training ship for mariners. Since 1995 she has been in private ownership and during that time, worked for the Norwegian coast guard and as a hotel ship. Recently, the vessel has been refitted and converted to an explore yacht in, Gdansk/Poland and proceeded to Svalbard.
